Segment 2- Group experiment

This is an approximation of the finale version of segment 2, featuring a response by grief sufferers and no grief sufferers, to three questions. It contains long takes, which were present in the Rio Ferdinand documentary that was researched. The length of a take sets the speed and pace of the scene and a long take stretches out a clip, in order to place more emphasis what is being shown or said.

Medium shots are present, as they focus on the subject in frame, whilst also establishing them in the surroundings.

Rule of thirds has been used in the side shots. This is because rule of thirds it is an impactful way to compose a subject in a frame, and therefore, being more engaging to the eye of the audience.

A graphic was used, showing the question at hand, featuring cross dissolves. The creative choice to not include the narrative voice over the questions was made, due to the fact that it stole attention away from the subjects on screen. The Cross dissolve effect helped to set a somber tone, as seen in the Rio Ferdinand documentary about grief. Looking at the '2016 Wipe' documentary as well, its clear that if an upbeat, humorous tone is to be established, then fast paced cutting with abrupt transitions will be most effective.
