Colour palette concept

By studying this video, I have discovered that colour is just as vital as sound or cinematography. For the theme of grief, The colour palette can be monochrome. This is because a lack of colour connotes bleak and empty emotions. Filming monochrome black and white would be easy to do, as the canon digital camera can film in monochrome directly, without any editing needed.

However, the purpose of my subject matter is to illustrate the negatives and the positives of grief. Therefore, a colour palette that reflects a sense of duality in emotion will be most effective. From analysing this video, The film can be shot in full colour, after which the colour effects can be altered in premier pro. The colour palette most suitable at this stage is perhaps a full colour gradient but with lower saturation, as this would contain negative and positive emotions. another approach could be that the blue hue could be increased on the footage to intensify the somber tone, without going too negative.

Test shots will be obtained to test colour gradient, as well as types of shots, lighting and editing. Film photography is also being used to experiment with film quality against that of digital and the colour effects it brings.
