Course introduction

This blog exists to record my research and inspirations, as well as document my work for each week and the evaluation that follows it.

The course begins with a rotation each week that allows us to have a taste of different artistic disaplinaries, in order to hone our own skills in varying art forms. These rotations will all build up to the finale project at the end of the course.

For each rotation, the week follows what is known as the design cycle. Most project will start with initial research or will involve the student taking from the subject matter at hand, for example life drawings or photographs.
Students are then expected to develop their research or subject matter into a design of some sorts, usually as drawings or maquettes if it is a 3-D form.
Then, the designs are taken into the workshops to be created using various materials and processes.
After the product is finalised, Students are expected to record their reflections and evaluation of the whole design cycle for that rotation. This is the point in the cycle where students will have to be critical of their own work and state which aspects went as planned and where they could improve on.

Note that: desings do not have to be finished, as this will be relevant in the evaluation when considering time organisation. Some designs will be too time consuming to create as well.
